10:16 am - A fannish moment, and more about Sunday
Today in the local newspaper: "Gottesdienst-Besucher um 875 Jahre zurückversetzt". ("People at mass taken back in time 875 years".) First thought in fangirl mind: "I wonder if they are going to make it back to present day?"
Yesterday was May Day, and I had a very hard time decicing what to do. The local bicycle club offered a tour to a beer garden. I had picked a nice walk from my guidebook which I usually cannot do because you have to take the train back and the train runs only on Sundays May to September. In the next city, there was a fair with roller coasters and a ferris wheel. Sleeping in and lazing around was tempting. And also, it was May Day.
In the end I went by, "what can't I do on another Sunday in May", and so at a little to ten under a still overcast sky, I stood at the union headquarters in town and froze my butt off. There was a march along streets deserted by everything but buses, and then coffee, cake, Bratwurst and talks. Not bad, all in all.
I picked up a bunch of pamphlets from several leftist parties, except from the Greens. Because I just opened their program on some random page and read that fatties were to blame for the state of the world, and I really cannot stand that sort of rhetoric. The fatty in the house is Tully the Tabby, and if you blame him for the state of the world, he'll give you a look of such weapon-grade cuteness that you'll feel your brain leaking out of your mouth while you say "aaaaaah".
I was back home around 1 pm and took on the housework more or less enthusiastically, and then took up with one of my alternative plans for the day, which was lazing on the sofa, reading, and eating chocolate easter eggs.
