Fun with typology

If you do not know what the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is you won't get the joke. To make it shorter than the Wikipedia article, the Indicator is a field of sixteen possible results of a psychological test, going extroverted (E) vs. introverted (I), concrete (S) vs. contextual (N), thinking (T) vs. feeling (F), and getting one's picture of the world from how one perceives it (P) as opposed to what one thinks/feels about it (J). Like many psychological tests it is fun to play with, and like all typologies and patterns, it fascinates me.

Among the critiques of the test I have read is that it does not deliver consistent results for the same person (as well as that it's nonsense anyway), and I have to say that it's more fun to play with the classes than with the test itself. However, it's a test where I very, very consistently rate a specific type, no matter of my mood, the weather, the time of day or my current fandom.

Today I stumbled upon a place, Typealyzer, where you can put in the URL of a blog (or LJ), and get your MB type.

Here's the result for this LJ:

ESFP - The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don't like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

It also shows a picture about which part of my brain is working when I write, which seems to be "none".

You might want to try to guess what type I'm getting when I take the actual test. Collapse )

Let's say my LJ and I complement each other. One could also say that my LJ is a piece of performance art.

... And now I'm wondering how to manipulate the results. Note to self: Will not create 16 LJ accounts to experiment.

Weekend, snow, and an accident

This weekend, we were driving over to David's and H___'s place again for another round in our long-running WoD crossover game. The most exciting out of game part was that the weather forecast had promised heavy snow, but we had only a few flurries of snow half-way, and none at all on the way back, although it was quite cold. I was running around in a T-shirt and found it refreshing. Ceridwen was wearing a jumper and an anorak and got a cold.

Our group is still in that steam punk world. Collapse )

H___'s black-and-white cat had lost weight and clumsiness and was very cute. Her white cat had grown immense amounts of fur and spend one night outside, despite the freezing and the light snowfall.

The most fun thing apart from role-playing was watching the Top Gear video about the Toyota Hi-Lux (YouTube vids linked through Wikipedia, here.).

Sunday after I came home there was more snow, and Monday I___ phoned me at work to tell me that two cars had crashed in my street and one of them had at least messed up Secunda's paint. So now I have to deal with the insurance. Just great.
