Ouch. - The Lyorn's Den

Monday I had an appointment at the dentist (again).

This time she decided that it was high time to get out the crumbling wisdom tooth. I had felt that way (literally) for about a year, but was, for obvious reasons, less than enthusiastic about it. My obvious reasons were completely right: it was a bloody (again, literally) mess. The tooth had four roots, one of them had gotten hold of the bone, and it was too rotten to grip with the pliers, so she had to carve a handle into the more solid part to get hold of it. Plus, choking on blood when you do not dare to move = not fun.

So, the good part about all this is that I could stay home from work for two days. The bad part is, well, it hurts like hell, I look like three days after the full moon, only redder, I'm running a slight fever, I can't put my contact lenses in as my right eye is swollen half-shut, and as eating is slow, painful and difficult I'm permanently hungry. I've also been too miserable to write.

And tomorrow I have to go to work again, and I do not like the idea of being away from my cooling packs or trying to get anything useful done without my contact lenses. Or having to talk. Also, still in too much pain to go to bed -- waiting for the meds to kick in.

Dentists...

(Link)
You have my deepest sympathy - I got rid of all my wisdom teeth in one session quite some years ago, but I can remember that it was definitely no fun at all. And that although I (normally) have no problems at the dentist's and a fast healing rate. So my best wishes for a speedy recovery! And remember, the procedure has one bright side: this tooth won't hurt ever again...

Awww man. You know my wisdom tooth angst, so... *major hugs*

If it helps, I think one of the best foods to eat in wisdom-tooth related complication stuff is scrambled eggs. You don't actually need to chew them, and they're not broth or yoghurt which I at least was forbidden to eat (dairy products :( ). Apart from that, I don't have much advice... your operation sounds very very bad, ugh.

I'm lucky, the doc didn't mention milk products. So I had a lot of instant mashed potatos (= "Pampf"). Pampf is edible if stirred into broth instead of water, and with some chopped herbs (from the freezer) added.
